In the early years, Rockingham Forest Trust focused its work in the 200 square mile area known as Rockingham Forest. This lies between the rivers Welland and Nene and the towns of Stamford and Kettering in North East Northamptonshire. It has a distinctive landscape of farmland, open pasture, pockets of ancient woodland and villages built from local stone.
More recently we have extended our area of work to include the Nene Valley, incorporating Stanwick Lakes and the surrounding villages. Our current heritage project ‘Rose of the Shires’ also works further afield exploring villages in Northamptonshire such as Badby and Naseby.
