Join Stanwick Lakes Volunteer Team

Could you become a volunteer for the exciting new Discovery Zone at Stanwick Lakes? If so, Rockingham Forest Trust would like to hear from you.

The Discovery Zone is a recent addition to the award winning visitor centre at Stanwick Lakes. The Zone tells the story of the fascinating history and wildlife of the Lakes through murals and artefacts, toys and books, and specially designed educational games.

Schools use the Zone during the week, but at weekends it is popular with families as a great place to play, create some seasonal craft or relax after a walk. The volunteer team play an important role in the Discovery Zone, helping people to enjoy their visit by guiding them through the artefacts, leading craft activities and helping them play games including bird guess who and bug jigsaws.

Rockingham Forest Trust, the charity which runs the site, is currently recruiting new volunteers to the team so that the Zone can be open to the public, on more weekends and school holidays throughout the year. No specific qualifications or skills are required, but you do need to enjoy meeting people of all ages, and an interest in natural and local history, or arts and crafts, would be an advantage.

The benefits to volunteers are many, including meeting new people and free Stanwick Lakes membership after 40 hours' volunteering.
