Rockingham Forest Trust...
...bringing people closer to the environment
The Trust is an environmental and rural development charity which works to improve the environment of Rockingham Forest through community involvement and enterprise.Since 1993 its mission has been to keep the Forest beautiful, distinctive and thriving. In practice this involves working with local people to conserve the Forest's landscape and traditions, whilst supporting the rural economy in adapting to the challenges of modern life.
Conservation, Education, Support for Rural Life
How does it do this?
Through partnerships –
with local landowners, communities and other like-minded organisations
Through direct action –
managing projects that tackle key issues in the Forest and developing countryside sites such as Twywell Hills & Dales and Stanwick Lakes
Through education –
school visits, literature and project events for all ages help to spread the message and encourage involvement
The Trust has come a long way since it was formed and yet it has remained true to the original concept of celebrating and conserving somewhere special. It has also retained the support of its original local authority supporters, Northamptonshire County Council and three district councils, with whom it works in partnership on various projects.
